The Hail Mary combines two Biblical passages - Luke 1:28 and Luke 1:42
And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
The word Hail is translated from the opening word χαῖρε meaning "Rejoice!"; the word κεχαριτωμένη is the feminine perfect and means to bestow with grace.
