Saint Metrophanes of Byzantium

Saint Metrophanes was a Bishop of Byzantium and nephew of Emperor Probus. While his exact birthdate has been lost, we do know he was born in the 3rd century. In his teenage years he converted to Christianity and was ordained a priest by Bishop Titus of Byzantium. Later in life he would succeed Bishop Titus as the Bishop of Byzantium, a position he held so dearly and performed so well that his service influenced Constantine the Great in his decision to place the new capital at Byzantium.

His feast day is celebrated on June 4th in both the Roman Catholic Church and Eastern Orthodox Church.
